GALENA, IL – GALENA–A total of $45,842.61 was distributed to Jo Daviess County not-for-profit organizations from the 2019 Galena Country Fair event.
In addition to a $15,500 gift to local food pantries and county ambulance organizations for use during the COVID-19 pandemic, Jo Daviess County Country Fair Charities, Inc. (JDCCFC) awarded an additional $5,370 to nine not-for-profit organizations through the JDCCFC grant program.
Organizations receiving grants:
•Apple River Fire Department, $335 for pager replacement.
•Caring Neighbors Food Pantry, Warren, $500 for milk and food purchase.
•Elizabeth Food Basket, $500 for emergency assistance.
•Knights of Columbus, Galena, $880 for Coats for Kids program.
•Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS), East Dubuque, $810 for recalibration of self-contained breathing apparatus machine.
•St. Mary Church, Elizabeth, $500 for emergency assistance.
•Stockton PTO, $500 for science lab upgrade.
•United Churches of Galena Food Pantry, $500 for backpack program.
•Warren Ambulance, $825 for public access AED project.
In addition to the JDCCFC pandemic gifts and grant awards, Country Fair Planning Committee chairperson Ed Bochniak said $13,005 was distributed to 26 churches and other not-for-profit organizations whose members and supporters provided more than 1,000 hours of volunteer time for the 2019 event. An additional $9,247.61 from gate receipts went to the city of Galena; $1,500 was donated to the Galena Police Department; and $1,220 to the Galena EMS.
