Three generations of the Lawlor family–owners of Galena Cellars Vineyard & Winery–have donated all the wine to the Gazebo Garden at Galena Country Fair. It’s a tradition 40 years strong.
Robert and Joyce Lawlor used to visit the wine garden the Sunday of the fair to enjoy a glass of wine and listen to music and winemaker Chris Lawlor-White helped in the wine garden. Now, the next generation, Eric and Britt White, are continuing the tradition.
“For many years our family would help with the wine garden set-up and clean-up,” said Lawlor-White. “The care and the dedication of a hardworking team, as they smile and dance their way through the crowds, come rain or shine, are what makes the wine garden and fair such a great success.”
Lawlor-White said Galena Cellars has enjoyed working with the Country Fair organizers through the years.
“The spirit and gathering of this community through art and local cuisine sets Galena apart,” said Lawlor-White. “The next generation looks forward to participating for many years to come.”
To express appreciation to the Lawlors for the years of support, Country Fair installed a bench in Grant Park, near the gazebo, in honor of the family.
